Angelababy's Red Carpet Glams

While Golden Globes Red Carpet talk sky rocketed high on all sorts of social media, I'm here finding red carpet inspirations somewhere else. Don't get me wrong! I tuned in this evening like everyone else did, but I surprisingly wasn't impressed with many of the gowns. It wasn't that I'm unappreciative, I was just rather disappointed.

I was scrolling through Instagram and stumbled upon Angelababy. I absolutely adore her style, her personality, her silliness, her classiness and just watching her being herself. I love her wide range of styles. She can be daring and wild, cute and playful, or classy and natural. She has always been someone I look up to for style inspirations.

To somehow tie back to the 2014 Golden Globes, I went searching for her RED CARPET styles. Her red carpet glams usually range from elegant and sophisticated gowns to cute and playful dresses.

Here are some throwback and recent red carpet events that she has attended.

One of Winter Favorites: Classy Trench Coats

Gentlemen, this is for you.
A guide to the perfect men's trenches.

I was inspired by watching an uprising korean drama called "The Heirs" starring my favorite korean actor, Lee Min Ho!! The drama not only fulfilled the hopeless romantic part of me, but also the fashionista of me. With that said, the fashion featured in the drama are just incredible. Take a look for yourself if you have time to kill.

The trench coat has been a staple of men's wardrobes ever since it first debuted prior to World War I, but we won't get into the history aspects. Thanks to Mr. Burberry's great renaissance of tailored trench coats, we are able to stay classy, mysterious, preppy and stylish in this unbearable cold.

People living in the cold, such as the East Coast (or Wisconsin, in my case), understand the importance of a practical winter coat. Though most trench coats are expensive, they last a while and hardly go out of style! One, or two, will help you stay stylish for the many winters to come! So make your investment worth the money spent!

Here are some tips from Kate Allden, co-owner of ultra hip London boutique Kj's Laundry, to help you choose the right trench just for you. (Credit: Menstylefashion)
"Essentially a tailored look, the fit is absolutely key to getting this one right boys. For traditional trench styles, the coat should sit just above the knee. Full length and it all gets a bit “don’t mention the war”. With belted designs, only tie at the front if you’re slim – otherwise always tie at the back to avoid looking bulky. Trenches look best completely buttoned with the collar up; add a scarf knotted loosely over the collar for a cosy wrapped up look. Consider the fabric carefully too – look for waterproof cotton drill or poplin for lighter styles or for a heavier winter number, wool gabardine is a classic. More structured fabrics will hang far better, emphasising shoulders and narrow waists. Cream is the time-honoured choice but dark colours, especially grey or navy, are generally sexiest. If you prefer black, avoid anything leather unless you’re planning to spend the weekend at an ‘Allo ‘Allo convention"
I personally love the Burberry and Sandro trench coat collections. Brands are not the main factor of choosing a trench that is right for you. The beauty of trench coats is the way it highlights your silhouette so make sure it fits your body! Sometimes even the oversized and shapeless can be stylish - it all depends on your body type and height!

In terms of color, I personally believe that neutral and solid hues are the best way to go. Classic tone is beige. But colors such as black, grey, navy and darker tones (maroon, anyone?) would work too. These neutral colors ensure that they will always stay in trend and achieve, for a lack of better terms, the "gentlemen" looks. Trenches also come in different lengths: short, mid-length and long. Long trenches look more mysterious and manly. Whereas, short trenches achieve more of a playful, mischievous look. So if you'd like, invest in each.

Here are some trenches to choose from (most of them are actually featured in "The Heirs"):

Greetings!

To all the fashion bloggers and lovers,

I am so excited to have joined this blogging culture. Fashion has always been something that I am passionate about. I can proudly say that my mother has contributed a great deal to my love for fashion, high couture, and the "glams and blings". (Thanks mother!) Though still trying to find a niche in this fascinating industry, I want to start by talking about it and interacting with those who feel the same.

Fashion is not merely something you wear, it is the way you live and the way you look at things in the world. It is about the attitude, the living, the loving and the differences. My inspiration, Coco Chanel once said fashion is "not something that exists in dresses only", it is "in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening" - and I live up to this quote ever since I fell in love with this vague yet profound term called fashion.

I want to project Ms. Chanel's concept of "the street fashion" on this blog, in my own way. That is, to post a style that inspires me for the entire year from all sorts of media outlets (pinterest, instagram, magazines, downtown madison, friends...etc)

Excitement is an understatement of how I am feeling right now. To those who will be following my blog, I hope that you will find them as inspiring as I do.

Xo,
Amanda
